West Fairchild, also known as the International Studies Residential College (ISRC), opened in 1981. Foster Walker Complex was built in 1973 and is often referred to as “Plex” by students. It is four-stories tall, and consists of four towers in each of two wings. Plex houses 627 men and women in 595 single and 8 quadruple rooms. Men and women live in clusters on each floor and baths are shared by 4 people. Plex residents have use of lounges, a recreation room, a kitchenette, and vending machines. Plex is one of the few dorms with air conditioned rooms. It also houses a cafeteria – so large that it is actually split into two. Plex also has a convenience store (called the “C-Store”) that stocks many essential things for students. Effective in 2006, Plex reserves all its single rooms for upperclassmen only.
